
Reflections from the AMDP Programme on the Handloom and Handicrafts Ecosystem of Northeast India
A reflection on my experience as a speaker at the Advanced Management Development Programme (AMDP) on the Handloom and Handicrafts Ecosystem of Northeast India. Organised through a collaboration between the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd and the National Institute of Design Jorhat, the programme created a platform to discuss the challenges, opportunities and future of the region’s craft sector. The session explored how decentralized production systems, design thinking and stronger market connections can help artisans and weavers build sustainable craft enterprises.

EKTA Textile Event Meghalaya: Craft to Brand and the Future of Indian Handloom Marketing
Reflections from the EKTA Textile Event in Nongpoh, Meghalaya, where artisans, designers and industry experts gathered to discuss the future of the Indian handloom sector. In this session, insights were shared on “Craft to Brand: The Art of Storytelling in Textile Marketing,” highlighting how strong narratives, design thinking and market awareness can help artisans and textile entrepreneurs build meaningful brands. The event, organised by the Ministry of Textiles with support from Weavers Service Centre Guwahati, created an important platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and strengthening the craft ecosystem of Northeast India.
