I was born with an eye for stories—stories woven in fabric, embroidered in thread, and stitched into memory. For me, fashion has never been just clothing; it has always been a language, a way of preserving identity while reimagining the future.
My journey began far away from glossy runways and fashion capitals. It began in the midst of India’s cultural richness, where textiles are not just commodities but legacies carried through generations. I grew up fascinated by how a piece of fabric could hold history, how a stitch could tell a tale, and how attire could be both deeply personal and universally symbolic.
As I stepped into the world of fashion, I carried this fascination with me. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with global fashion houses and retailers—from Topshop and Urban Outfitters to J.Crew and more—where I learned to balance the precision of the international market with the soul of craftsmanship. Those experiences taught me discipline, scale, and the importance of design that resonates across borders.
Yet, my heart always returned to the crafts of Northeast India. The looms, the indigenous motifs, and the wisdom of artisans—these became the foundation of my design philosophy. My work lives at the intersection of heritage and modernity, blending ancient textile traditions with contemporary aesthetics, ensuring that the past continues to breathe in the present.
Today, as the Head of the Textile and Apparel Department at NID Assam, I extend this philosophy into education. Teaching pattern making, garment construction, illustration, styling, and more, I aim not only to train designers in skill but also to nurture thinkers who question, storytellers who challenge, and visionaries who create with responsibility.
For me, fashion is not a trend—it is a continuity. It is culture in motion, a diary of our times, and a medium of change. My purpose lies in using fashion as a tool: to innovate, to empower, to sustain, and to celebrate identity.

This is not just my profession.
This is my history, my journey, my calling.
